Bermuda Conference Essay Competition
Who: Two (2) graduate students from any college or university in the United States working toward a Master’s Degree in the area of African American Studies
What: Essay contest to win an all expense paid trip to Bermuda to attend the African Diaspora Heritage Trail Conference (Air, Hotel, on-Island transportation to and from the Conference and Conference fees)
When: July 26th – 30th, 2008
Where: Bermuda
Why: To promote the education and awareness of the African Diaspora
Details: Bermuda Department of Tourism is holding an essay contest open to all graduate students in the United States working towards a Master’s Degree in the area of African American Studies. Students who enter will have the chance to win an all expense paid trip to Bermuda for the 4th annual African Diaspora Heritage Trail Conference. From May 1st – June 15th, 2008, students are invited to submit a 5-7 page essay (typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt) answering the following question:
“Why do you feel that continuing to spread the awareness and development of the African Diaspora is important to our society? Why it is important to you personally?”
Not only will the winner receive a trip to Bermuda to attend the ADHT Conference, but he or she will also have the opportunity to read their essay during the conference to attendees and speakers.
Winning essays would be based on creativity, authenticity and emotional appeal.
Those interested in participating in the Bermuda Conference Essay Competition can submit their essay to BermudaContest@corbinpr.com. The sweepstakes ends on June 15, 2008 at 12:00pm. Winners will be notified on or around June 30, 2008 by at BDOT representative.
